Our Story
Small family owned fishery
Little Blackhall and Inchmarlo Fishing is a combination of both Little Blackhall and Inchmarlo beats. The fishery is set in the beautiful surrounds of the middle Dee approximately one mile from Banchory. It offers a wide variety of water, fishes in all heights and has the benefit of being a double bank fishery.
About Little Blackhall and Inchmarlo
The Little Blackhall beat and accommodation are on the site of the old Blackhall Castle. The castle was built in 1771 and torn down in 1947. Many of the castle features adorn the fishing estate, like the walled garden, ice house, arboretum and river side roadway used to access the fishing. It is this history that influenced the castle logo design. Little Blackhall has been in the family since 1999 and in 2002 the beat opposite, Inchmarlo, became available and was added to the fishery. Together these two beats are considered one and Little Blackhall and Inchmarlo Fishing, was started.
The fishing from the Little Blackhall bank is considered to be full of interest, affording the more challenging fishing on this stretch, from shallow to deep water. The fishing on the Inchmarlo side has the same characteristics, but is generally known to be the the easier side to fish, since the deeper water can be fished from the bank - wading is mostly unnecessary. The wooded banks on both sides, which in the summer abound with wild flowers, the garden around the accommodation and the banks are kept up to an exceptional standard by the estate.

Unlike some of the beats on the Dee that are a small part of a large portfolio we are dedicated to the fish, the river and our anglers. Little Blackhall and Inchmarlo is committed to reform, opening up the beat for all anglers and ensuring salmon fishing has wide appeal in the local community and beyond. We were one of the first to allow day rods and the first to offer evening rods in an effort to widen the appeal and reach of salmon fishing. We have also had youth open days on the beat to help open the sport up to the next generation.

We continue to punch above our weight in terms of number of fish each year this is down to our dedicated staff and their unrivaled knowledge of this beautiful stretch of water and the techniques required to hook and land a fish.
